Makin’ That Slow Dough: The Step Your Game Up Editition.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on March 1, 2012 by megaphoneteeth

Alright – I have told myself again and again that I need to take this thing a little more seriously … but you know, I am a twenty something bum  running around working demeaning jobs and getting silly drunk. So, here I am sitting down on a raining and drastically cold night in February actually … the 29th of this gloomy ass month, that shit don’t come around to often.

What actually inspired me to get back on this Elephant Shoe of a project was this particular video I scooped off the Wax Poetics blog … so I guess i am re-blogging like a true commuter on the information superhighway, passing off other people’s finds as my own. The only speed limit I know is fast, so lets just enjoy this bad boy. I have seriously played this video – not actually watching the video – three or four times in a row, as a matter of fact I am listening to it right now. Anyways enough of this self proclaiming coolness … Hold on, I just read the little blurb on the WP blog. This girl is actually on that magazines label, everything is starting to make sense now.  here is it he video.

Kendra Morris “Concrete Waves”

Next up on the chopping block, I have another gem that I have stumbled on – I haven’t been posting on here for way too god damn long so I have a bunch of shit stacked up in my digital crates that I will be dropping periodically, and hopefully on a semi-consistent basis. This is just another gem I picked up during the semi-unintentionally hiatus Elephant Shoesss took for a little while.

I am sure many people, the many people, were devastated when this small little corner of the blogosphere, let along the internet stop producing new content for you lazy as music heads to dig on a pass off as your own legitimacy in some sort of contact cool experiment but I am back baby and get ready to spread some of the freshest shit out there right now and melt panties, I hope this song, or rather the sharing/knowledge of this song gets you laid.

Anyways, ill get off my high horse and drop this next joint on you. enjoy.

In the last piece of this comeback tour I am currently killing I got an oldy but a goody – I don’t want to dump all my fresh shit on you too early and killing my back catalog of freshy fresh! A now defunct Toronto classic in my opinion. It fucking awesome what the true essence of rock and roll and do to a small electro group out of scumy scumy city that Toronto can be some times.

So, In closing it is nice to see you again Elephant Shoess, its been a real trip coming back here with no plan and really not to much to say to deaf commuters but than again it feels good again to just write what comes to mind on this boring as fuck Wednesday night cooped up in my Moms house with nothing to drink and only a few cigarettes left. Cheers.

It’s been a while (again)

Things is tough homie – I get distracted and in a funk where I do really seem to care about the things that make me happy- almost zombie like with bullshit on the internet and other lame ass thangs. Anyways I have a few tracks this Tuesday evening. The weather is starting to col down and the leafs are starting to change colour. The flanel and the tim’s are coming back out of the closet and – my favourite season and fashion – is coming back into play.

Anyways I am just going to drop a few tracks that I think might be some bangers this season. much love.

and well – I dont know if I am going to get on here before Halloween so i thought I would throw up some my favourite tracks for this time of years as well.

On Point.

Posted in Uncategorized on September 9, 2011 by megaphoneteeth

Wax Poetics has been one of my favourite magazines for some time … the content is always on point. Great articles, interesting perspective and I always come away with something new to check out.

Even more on point – is there website, the blog specifically. Whenever I am feeling down or out of touch with the music scene at all – I jump on there and always find something of interest.

I dont want to plug the guys too much ’cause well they dont really need it – Wax Poetics is doing a great job with out my help. The reason i mentioned them was becuase a visit to there site always starts a great dig session. It’s rather late on a Thursday evening … about 11PM well it is usually at this time that i start digging through Hype Machine, clicking through Youtube videos, through the blogroll – just simply digging in the digital crates.

I dont know  what it is – there is something about finding new music – something about finding a dusty groove that you had never heard before and well it just seems to fit into everything that you are diggin’ on in that time – I have found a couple of those tracks tonight and even though I have just started my night on new gems and old burners I thought I would share the few i have come across already – some are new to me and might be old to you – some are old to me and I have re-discover – or rather – remember the love i have for these bangers.

Anyways this might be the most I have written in a blog post – so I am going to yammer on for just a little while longer to make sure I break my own personal “best” I will let the tracks speak for themselves. No real order – general – or distinction just some real good music. Much Love.

This blog has had to take a back burner to many things over the last 8 months. I have been enrolled in a Radio Broadcasting program at Humber College in Toronto and well I just finished. I am back on the I.S.H. and banging out some of the dopest tunes that your little sheltered ears have never heard. Keep the roles alive – ill stay diggin’ in the (digital) crates you keep downloading the tracks – show me some love.

Now that I am done the in class scheduled work – I hope to be back on the information superhighway giving back some of what I have taken.

This post will feature three docs i have been working on the last few months – feed back is always loved – so don’t be shy.

The first is a feature on the Toronto band Timber Timbre – the doc features mostly music and a little info about the band. – let me know

In the process i really got to learn the music – i studied it rather than just casually listening to it the pieces. – i got to write and research for this piece – digging deep into interviews and the complexity that is Timber Timbre … dont rip my heart out.

I took a road trip to Manchester, Tenn. this summer for the 10th anniversary of the Bonnaroo music festival – Well i was down there i took some tape of the road trip – anyways i made a three min documentary about the trip. check it out – and again give me some feed back and let me know what i need to do or what i did wrong.

There was a bit of a learning curve from the first feature i did but i think i banged this one out well – entertaining – tells the story and keeps you guessing.

not so much research – but making sure i got the audio well i was in the process of have the time of my life – might have been the biggest challenge of my (yet to start) radio career. – here i am again wearing my heart on my sleeve.

Lastly – this documentary is a bit of a joint effort – Natalie Riopelle and My Self worked on this bad boy. almost 13 mins of classic cool entertainment. This doc features some of the dopest cats in the Toronto Poetry Slam Scene. Lots of hard work in the studio – (hopefully) some great writing – and some tandem teamwork! much love to my girl Nat – real happy with the way this bad boy turned out.

Many interviews  – running around – editing – re-editing – writing – research – scrap this – scrap that – yadda yadda yadda. take the time and have a listen. thanks.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on April 7, 2011 by megaphoneteeth

I have just started pay attention to this thing again … and i have a video, a documentary of sorts that explains popular music pretty nicely. It isnt news … and well the video is kind of old but i thought i would share this with you.

here’s the original track for a little more context. The Winstons – Amen Brother.
