Three Pennies and a Ball of Lint, kid.

Recently, with my 10k download post i have had a resurgence of interest into this Elephantshoess thing i got going on. It’s not like i was ever uninterested but the blog took a backseat to work and social life. Now, without taking away from those things which are important, I have a new interest in posting again.

This might have to do with some of the great tunes i have come across in the last couple of days or like i had mentioned the monumental achievement i have just reached (in my mind). Anyways, i do not want this thing i have going on to turn into a diary, so with out much more rambling here are some tracks for the weekend that might get the party going a little bit harder.

Out of the UK this dynamic two-some known as the Audio Bullys and dropped a really nice tune. They pretty much kill it. Check this track out, real nice groove, very dynamic, and easy to get into. Show these kids some love, check out the tracks and the myspace etc etc.

This track, like a lot of my post, drifts off from the electro vibe, this track is still made with samples and a ton of other machines but defs has a different vibe to it. More soulful, hiphop even, but regardless will get people interested and moving at your jamboree this weekend. Check it out becuase it one of my new favourites for sure.

5 o’clock Shadowboxers – It’s Always 5 o’clock Somewhere

The Twelves consistently kill me … i have had the pleasure of seeing these guys preform at Ottawa’s growing electro club Ritual a few years back. Much love to the City of Ottawa. There are some real dope people running around there, spent a great 5 years there and miss every minute of it. If you only grab one track from this post, check this one out. This is a banger! and hopefully will develop into a party staple. I have also included the original track, which has a different vibe, but is still pretty decent.

Last but not least I have come across this really dance-y track from The Pipettes, check out some of there other tracks and you will see why i am a little surprised, but not at the same time not at all … hmmm … anyways here is a soon to be classic.

In the days since my last post I have moved out of the dreadful suburb of Mississauga and down the road to Waterloo. Although not much better, the student scene is a little more fresh and with that comes much beer and some sense of culture. Anyways I have a few tracks that i want to through down for you late night burners to enjoy.

I while back i had posted on the C90s – I have come across another track of theirs with some substances, so here is that. Check it out and show them some love. Also just reading on the new Breakbot tour … Busy P will be joining him some some of the leg and well i got a couple of bangers from that side of the world as well. Sam Sparro + ZZZ (remixed)

So this Australian born British pop sensation (is what i have heard through the pixelated grapevine) has totally been slept on in North America but folks this kid is on point. Had a 317Electro post on for this homie way back in the day but i cant seem to find it right now. Huge internet sensation with his track Black and Gold … covers, reinterpretations and just simple a straight up and down fuck around. Search “Black and Gold” or rather “Sam Sparro” in Hypemachine and you’ll see what i mean. Let me just say pop music isnt always Horrid, some of my favorite records are pop records … it is just the quality that makes the difference.

I had come across the Breakbot remix of ZZZ’s Lion and had shown some interest. In my search for the song i had come across a bunch of other remixes … equally as good but in their own right. Now i know this happens all the time in today’s popular music, and well even the not so popular … but …  i just find it real interesting to see the drastic reinterpretations of artist on a similar project. I guess the same could be said for something of any artistic interpretation … regardless i thought it was intriguing and should be shared.

Holy Fuck … Designer Drugs.

I had the pleasure of seeing Holy Fuck this summer at the Ottawa Blues Fest, great live performance, even better late night feel. I can not seem to get over the musicianship in these four fellows, check out the usual junk, the myspace, the website, buy the record.

I love that these guys are finally getting some recognition. This is a great time to plug one of my earlier adventures with a avenue called 317 Electro. Designer Drugs had been featured a number of times on this now, sadly, defunct blog. Designer Drugs has been a favourite of ours for quite some time and is seemingly getting the respect and exposure they now deserve.
