Fresh on my brain … so i thought i would come out and just rip this post to diamond shreddies. Just set up a 7.1 digital surround sound system to my little yet robustly powerfull macbook and am currently rattling my window pains. Moms is pissed. Yes kiddies that is right, the man behind the (hopefully, one day) legendary Elephant Shoess lives with his moms, in sunny Mississauga, Ontario. It is a give and take relationship but i get by.

Now! down to the nitty gritty of it all … i have some funky ass bangers to drop this evening. These tracks are what i (cleverly) call “speaker busters”. We have some Atrak in a animal disguise, from my pals at Ariel Noise … much love to these cats, hit up the blog roll. Some filthy  bass lines to work out my new 12″ sub woofer. I must mention that these speakers are hand-me-downs ’cause i am one broke ass honkie, but ya’ heard it dont matter. Bit of a mega post tonight … got a little excited and couldn’t decide which tracks to post up. Anyways, here are a few tracks to get that weekend dance party lite up.

Duck Sauce – Barbra Stresisand

Duck Sauce – Anyway

Joell Ortiz – Murder

Bruno Mars – Liquor Store Blues ft. Damian Marley

Sebastien Teller – Kilometer (A-trak remix)

Seven and Company Nation Army.

I have just been sifting through the Hypemachine Popular page. Now for the most part this page is filled with Kayne mash-ups and other lame Girl Talk esque junk but on this occasion i had come across a very interesting cover. A soul cover to, you guessed it, Seven Nation Army.

Back on May 20th’s “Passion vs. Fashion: Long Weekend Road Trip Addition” i had suggested a listen to Alice Russels cover of the White Stripes Seven Nation Army. This was an interesting remix, very different approach and still keeping the basic elements and tone of the track. Ben L’oncle Soul does something outrageous, but as i had mentioned with the Alice Russel track, he maintains he true essence of the track. Anyways, this track has a serious soul vibe to it and does something interesting with the melody.

Now I have also included a very similar yet interesting cover of the same track by Nostalgia 77, a soul/funk band i have heard of before and have followed for much longer then Ben L’oncle. The vocal track seems to have a lot more of the original passion than previous and a little more horn influence. Both tracks take a different understand of soul, and well, both do an awesome job. Check out the tracks and judge for yourself. I must admit, i am a sucker for a decent organ soul, Ben you might have me.

I have been reading a lot of blogs lately, music blogs more specifically, and well these “bloggers” put so much information into there post, current tours, albums, yadda yadda yadda. I hear that man, there is something to said for dope informative blogs, that’s why we read them i guess. Although those types of sites have something, i feel i am more drawn to the sites that build up a certain sense of quality. Taking a (small) risk on the tracks they recommend or tell me are dope. I have a certain trust. That is what i am trying to build here at Elephant Shoesss, a certain type of trust, a degree of quality.Maybe, a hybrid is the answer, it seems that is the answer to everything else theses days.

Anyways i hope i am well on my way.

Rox – My Baby Left Me

Rox – I Don’t Believe ( Don Diablo Remix)

Das Racist – You Oughtta Now

The Ambassadors – I Ain’t Got the Love (of any girl)

these are the (hangover) days

This is a great day, well in some ways. The weather is dark and rainy and i am a tad bit hung over, but i must admit these are some of my favourite days. The drab exterior matches the way i feel and aids in my interneting time. Much music will be played today, so i thought i would add a little something up here on ElephantShoesss to help pass the time.

Trying to come up with a theme for this afternoon’s post is proving to be a lot harder than i thought it would be. With that being said, I have decided to just put up the songs i have been listening to this morning and keep the pace of this post organic and smooth. Give ‘em a go and see what you like. There is a mix, so be aware that most of the tracks differ in style, but all have E.S. quality.

The Checkmates LTD – Got to See You Soon.

J. Cole – Problems

T2 – Heartbroken ft. Jodie

3 1/2in. Floopy, Properly.

Stumbled on this cat last night in typical fashion, late night. There is nothing like a little fresh instrumental hiphop late night, let me tell you. Working with Wonka Beats, Damu the Fudgemunk drops some serious serious flow, without doubt some of the freshest shit i have heard in a while.

Rocking some archaic mpc Damu drops some of the most gully shit. With the 90s style of hip hop that has is some sense been updated to appeal to true heads today. Being as smooth as possible Damu compiles some fresh samples and a stable drum beat to endorse what some might say hiphop is truly about. Using for the most part older equipment and remaining an artist of the street Damu deserves success in his musical adventures. Check these tracks, ’cause they are fire. New album just dropped not to long ago How It Should Sound v.1&2 go get it.

Buff1 & Damu the Fudgemunk – When the Winter Comes

Damu the Fudgemunk – Judgement Day

Damu the Fudgemunk – Bills Be Gone
